Japanese probiotic brand Yakult has appointed Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu as its new brand ambassador to strengthen its presence in India. Through this collaboration, Yakult aims to accelerate growth in the Indian market, where demand for probiotics is rapidly increasing.
Yakult Danone India, a joint venture between Yakult Honsha of Japan and Groupe Danone of France, plans to achieve double-digit annual growth through 2030. The brand currently serves mainly the upper and mid-middle-class segments but is keen to expand deeper into the mass market.
To connect with a wider audience, Yakult will launch advertising campaigns featuring Taapsee Pannu, leveraging her popularity and appeal across India. The probiotic drink, containing over 6.5 billion beneficial bacteria per serving, promotes gut health and overall well-being.
In response to changing consumer preferences, Yakult has introduced new variants such as mango flavor and a reduced sugar option fortified with vitamins D and E.
Available in nearly 700 cities nationwide, Yakult aims to grow its footprint to rival its markets in Japan, China, Indonesia, and Mexico. Taapsee Pannu’s appointment marks a key step in Yakult’s ongoing commitment to India’s health and wellness sector.
