Dentsu has elevated Surjo Dutt to chief executive officer of Dentsu Creative Webchutney, adding a new leadership layer at one of India’s best-known creative agencies. The move comes as the network continues to sharpen its leadership structure across creative and commercial functions.
Dutt will take on the CEO role in addition to his current position as chief creative officer, giving him responsibility for both the agency’s creative direction and business growth. He will continue reporting to Amit Wadhwa, CEO South, Dentsu Creative and Media Brands, according to the agency update.
The leadership change also creates a new role for Indrajeet Mookherjee, the outgoing CEO, who will transition to president, integrated client management, South Asia, dentsu. The reshuffle suggests a broader effort by the network to align client management and creative leadership more closely while maintaining continuity at the top.
Dutt is already a familiar name inside the organization. He was promoted to chief creative officer in June 2024 and later helped steer the agency’s national creative leadership model, which brought together creative talent across regions under a more distributed structure. His elevation to CEO signals confidence in his ability to guide both the agency’s brand output and its commercial agenda.
