PepsiCo India has expanded the Lay’s portfolio with the launch of Lay’s Mini Stix, a new snack that brings a stick-style potato format to the Indian market for the first time. The product is positioned as a fresh twist on familiar savoury snacking, combining Lay’s potato base with fusion-inspired masala flavours suited to Indian taste preferences.
What makes Mini Stix notable is its pack design as much as the snack itself. Lay’s has introduced a horizontal pack format in India that is meant to be easy to hold and scoop from, making it better suited for quick, on-the-go eating and sharing occasions.
Saakshi Verma Menon said “At PepsiCo India, our growth strategy is anchored in reading the pulse of the consumer. As the Indian snacking landscape evolves with faster lifestyles and a growing demand for on-the-go convenience, our responsibility as a leader in Potato Chips snacking category is to drive that change, not just react to it. Lay’s® Mini Stix is a prime example of this innovation-first mindset. We are taking our iconic potato heritage and immense brand equity of Lay’s® and reimagining it to capture entirely new snacking occasions. This launch is a strategic expansion of our portfolio, ensuring that Lay’s® remains the companion of choice for consumers, no matter the time or place.”
Aastha Bhasin said “With Lay’s® Mini Stix, we wanted to take something consumers already enjoy and elevate it the Lay’s® way. By bringing our signature potato base into a stick texture, we’re delivering a new texture and a more intense crunch, while staying rooted in the familiar flavours consumers love. It’s a fun, shareable snack that adds a fresh dimension to everyday snacking.”
The launch has begun at accessible price points of Rs 5 and Rs 10, with an initial rollout across East India and a phased expansion into North and West India. PepsiCo says the new product is part of its innovation strategy to create new snacking occasions while staying rooted in the brand’s potato heritage.
For consumers, the appeal lies in simplicity: a crunchy snack, a familiar flavour profile, and a format that feels different from regular chips. For the brand, Lay’s Mini Stix adds a new growth avenue in India’s competitive salty-snack market, where format innovation can be just as important as flavour.
