Gurugram-based direct-to-consumer fragrance brand Bla Bli Blu has unveiled its Diwali 2026 festive campaign, ‘#SayNoToGifts’, urging Indian consumers to reconsider predictable and impersonal gifting rituals.
The campaign debuted on digital platforms with a viral prank centered around the ‘Indian Gifting Council’ (IGC), a mock regulatory body that issued official notices banning repetitive festive offerings across the country.
The brand followed up with a humorous commercial set inside a fictional retirement home. The story personifies three traditional festive items—dry fruits, soan papdi and chocolates—reflecting on why Indian households have started moving away from them.
Through character dialogue, the film portrays the items accepting that ritual gifting needs a modern refresh. It encourages consumers to opt for mood-centric fragrances and bespoke personal care bundles instead.
Kushal, founder, Bla Bli Blu, said: “With this year’s Diwali campaign, we did not want to urge Indians to simply gift better, but really think about what festive gifting meant to them. We designed #SayNoToGifts to be the beginning of a meaningful movement away from generic gifting and toward more thoughtful, curated selections. Given the response so far, we are confident that it will create a massive impact and reshape the country’s burgeoning gifting space for the considerable future.”
Rajat, founder, Bla Bli Blu, said: “With #SayNoToGifts, the idea is to establish Bla Bli Blu as a critical voice in the festive gifting conversation. This is why we dramatised the problem by inventing an authority with the power to outlaw it before launching the brand film. The buzz and conversations that the campaign has created so far has validated our approach.”
The digital campaign is rolling out across Instagram, influencer networks, meme communities and creator platforms under the tagline: ‘This Diwali, gifting mein lao kuchh new, say it with Bla Bli Blu.’
To support demand, the startup has launched its ‘Build Your Own Box’ customization feature, alongside curated perfume gift sets designed for festive family gatherings and corporate gifting.
The creative effort positions Bla Bli Blu as an inventive voice in festive marketing, proving how direct-to-consumer brands can turn relatable consumer habits into engaging, shareable brand stories.
