Meta India has announced the Edits Film Festival, a first-of-its-kind, 45-day initiative designed to spotlight emerging creator talent by transforming ordinary phone footage into short, cinematic Reels using the Edits app. Running from August 25 to October 8, 2026, the festival challenges creators to rethink the value of accidental clips, throwaway shots and unused moments sitting in their camera rolls.
Participants must create and publish an original Reel entirely on Edits within the 45-day window, detailing the specific features used—such as filters, effects, fonts, audio tools, overlays and music in the caption. Every entry must include the hashtag #EditsFilmFestival and tag @metaindia and @weareyuvaa.
A curated selection of 10–20 top reels will be screened at an exclusive Edits Film Festival event, with select makers recognised on Meta India’s social channels and granted early access to upcoming Edits features. The jury comprises actor Ahsaas Channa, creator Dolly Singh, Yuvaa founder Nikhil Taneja, and film voice Rajeev Masand, who will evaluate entries on story uniqueness, transformation of ordinary footage, and creative use of Edits’ tools.
“India’s creator community is redefining storytelling every day, and the Edits Film Festival is our way of celebrating that spirit. We want to empower creators to see the cinematic potential in their everyday moments and use Edits as their creative studio to bring those stories to life. This festival is a stage for fresh voices and bold ideas all made on Edits.”
Ankit Rihal, Head of Global Partnerships, Meta, India
“There’s always something new trending on Instagram, and more often than not, it’s a Gen Z creator or editor behind it. We’re constantly inspired by their creativity and honest storytelling, so I’m glad to be a juror for the Edits Film Festival and help more of this talent get discovered.”
Nikhil Taneja, Founder of Yuvaa
The festival underscores Meta’s push to position Edits as a mobile “creative studio” for India’s fast-growing creator economy, while rewarding originality over production polish.
