OpenAI has promoted Pragya Misra to lead its strategy in India, indicative of a significant scaling of the company’s operations in one of its fastest-growing global markets. Recently promoted to Head of Strategy and Global Affairs, India, Misra will ensure the company’s vision integrates product development, policy making, partnerships, and ecosystem-building across the board. OpenAI hopes to deepen its support of the national IndiaAI mission and democratize access to its frontier AI models, creating innovations tailored for the Indian context, and partnering to design inclusive, high-impact solutions.
OpenAI’s India operations are pivotal to its global strategy. India is already the second largest market for ChatGPT, and OpenAI has taken the step of creating a legal entity and office in New Delhi, along with offering India-first products, ChatGPT Go and Study Mode, which rolled out globally after successful launches in India.
