Reliance completes merger of Star Television Productions into Jiostar, consolidating iconic ‘Star’ brand under one entity for streamlined TV and digital operations. Effective Nov 30, 2025.
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has fully integrated the ‘Star‘ brand into Jiostar following the merger of Star Television Productions Ltd (STPL) with the joint venture, effective November 30, 2025. Jiostar notified RIL that the scheme became operational at 6:09 PM IST, streamlining ownership and licensing of the marquee brand directly under the Reliance-Disney entity.
STPL, a former RIL subsidiary, held rights to the ‘Star’ marque and licensed it across group companies for TV channels and digital platforms. This merger eliminates separate licensing arrangements, enabling Jiostar to make unified decisions on brand usage, extensions, or repositioning.
The development caps a year-long restructuring after the November 2024 merger of Reliance’s Viacom18 and JioCinema with Disney’s India assets, valuing Jiostar at $8.5 billion. Jiostar now operates over 100 channels under Star and Colors brands, plus the JioHotstar streaming platform, posting Rs 7,232 crore revenue and Rs 1,322 crore profit in Q3 FY26.
This consolidation positions Jiostar as India’s top media powerhouse by revenue and profitability, enhancing operational efficiency amid fierce competition.
