With a new lab in India, led by CCO & CIO South Asia, Gurbaksh Singh, to develop tech-driven, human-centred solutions across brands.
Mumbai, July 2025— Dentsu has added a new Dentsu Lab in India to its global innovation ecosystem. This is a big step forward for the network, which now has innovation hubs in Tokyo, London, Warsaw, and Mumbai. The India centre will be based in Mumbai, but it will also have offices in Bengaluru and Gurgaon. This will be one of the agency’s biggest regional innovation projects.
Gurbaksh Singh, who is the Chief Creative Officer and Chief Innovation Officer for South Asia at Dentsu, will be in charge of the new lab. Singh’s job is to lead the innovation agenda, which means bringing together brands, startups, researchers, and creative technologists from different fields. The goal of the project is to speed up human-centered solutions that combine creativity, design, and new technologies.
Dentsu Lab started in Tokyo in 2014 as a way to use new technologies to make things that work in the real world. The India centre will build on this by making working prototypes that can quickly test ideas, solve real-world problems, and give people meaningful brand experiences.
Dentsu Lab India will look into a lot of different areas, like AI, augmented reality, virtual reality, data visualisation, and internet-of-things (IoT) solutions. These will be used for both business and community projects. The lab has already set up a wide range of innovation pilots, such as AI-powered cultural storytelling tools and drone-based solutions for public safety.
Dentsu Lab’s work stands out because it combines a deep understanding of culture with technical experimentation. It will keep working on successful international projects, making them more relevant to Indian markets and creating new IPs to sell abroad.
Dentsu Lab India’s opening fits with Dentsu’s larger “Innovate to Impact” plan. This strategic direction shows that the network is committed to scaling innovation not just as an idea, but as a business solution based on quick prototyping and clear results.
India is expected to be a key player in shaping Dentsu’s future in global innovation now that the new lab and leadership are in place.
