Ashish Sharma has joined Apollo Hospitals as Deputy General Manager – Digital Marketing & Growth. He will now lead performance marketing, brand campaigns and digital patient acquisition for India’s largest private hospital chain. His role covers both online and offline growth levers. He will work on search, social, programmatic, content and CRM to drive appointments, procedures and brand trust.
Apollo Hospitals runs a large network of hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and digital health services. In the latest quarter, the company reported strong profit growth and a 21 per cent rise in revenue. Management has said it wants to add about 5,800 beds over the next five years. It is also expanding its digital arm, Apollo 24|7, which offers teleconsults, e-pharmacy and home diagnostics. In this context, a dedicated leader for digital marketing and growth makes sense.
As Deputy General Manager, Sharma is expected to own the top-line digital demand for the hospital business. That means setting targets for leads, conversions and cost per acquisition. He will also shape the media plan across Google, Meta, YouTube and other platforms. A big part of his job will be to link marketing spend to real hospital outcomes.
Healthcare marketing in India is becoming more competitive. Many hospital chains now run large digital teams. They use data to target patients by city, specialty and intent. Apollo already has a strong brand. But it also faces new rivals in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Sharma’s task will be to sharpen targeting, improve creative and build better landing pages. He must also ensure that calls, chats and form fills turn into actual hospital visits.
The digital business is expected to narrow losses and move towards break-even in the coming quarters. Marketing will play a key role here. Growth campaigns for app installs, subscription plans and pharmacy delivery will sit alongside core hospital marketing. A single leader for both can help avoid overlap and improve ROI.
