
Ajit Varghese has been named Partner and Group CEO of Madison Media & OOH. This is a big change in leadership at Madison World. Ajit Varghese’s return to Madison is seen as both a homecoming and a strategic move to lead the agency’s next phase, which will focus on big growth through digital and technology transformation.
Varghese has worked in media agencies, digital platforms, and big broadcaster networks in India and other countries for more than 30 years. He started his career at Madison Media and then moved up the ranks to become COO of Madison Media Infinity, Managing Director (South Asia) at Maxus, CEO (Asia Pacific) at Maxus, Global President at Wavemaker (London), Chief Commercial Officer at ShareChat, and most recently, Head of Revenue – Entertainment & International at JioStar, the Reliance-Disney joint venture.
He will also buy an equity stake in Madison and join the agency’s leadership team with Sam Balsara (Chairman of Madison World) and Vikram Sakhuja, who will stay on as Executive Director, working from New Delhi to help the organisation grow. Varghese’s job is to improve Madison’s tech and digital skills so that the agency can grow by 2 to 3 times and become more client-focused and future-focused. His experience working with companies all over the world and his strong track record should add strategic value to Madison, especially since the agency is said to be looking into possible mergers or acquisitions with global players.
