Colgate-Palmolive India has partnered with Bombay Shaving Company to strengthen Palmolive’s direct-to-consumer and e-commerce business. Under the arrangement, Bombay Shaving Company will manage the brand’s consumer-facing advertising and customer relationships across online platforms.
The partnership covers Palmolive’s digital and D2C operations, while Colgate-Palmolive will continue to manage the brand across modern trade and traditional retail channels. Palmolive’s Indian portfolio includes shower gels, body washes and liquid hand washes.
The move comes as Colgate-Palmolive seeks to improve the performance of its personal-care business. Company leadership has acknowledged that Palmolive has not delivered as expected in India, creating a need for sharper digital execution, stronger consumer engagement and a more effective online growth strategy.
Bombay Shaving Company brings experience in building digital-first personal-care brands and managing online customer journeys. Its responsibilities for Palmolive are expected to cover media and advertising, marketplace execution, consumer communication and customer relationship management.
The relationship between the two companies predates the latest operational partnership. In 2018, Colgate-Palmolive’s Asia-Pacific arm invested approximately ₹18 crore in Bombay Shaving Company and acquired a 14% minority stake. The investment created a strategic connection between Colgate’s FMCG expertise and the grooming company’s digital-first capabilities.
The collaboration highlights how established consumer-goods companies are increasingly working with digitally native businesses to improve online performance. For Palmolive, the immediate priority will be to build stronger relevance among digital consumers, improve product discovery and convert online engagement into sustained sales.
By combining Colgate-Palmolive’s brand and distribution strength with Bombay Shaving Company’s D2C capabilities, the partnership aims to give Palmolive a more focused route to digital growth.am as it builds sharper and more connected brand communication.
