Reliance and Google have formed a strategic partnership to democratize AI access across India, offering free 18-month access to Google Gemini Pro for Jio users and developing India-specific AI models.
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through Reliance Intelligence, has partnered with Google to accelerate India’s AI revolution, aiming to democratize access for consumers, enterprises, and developers. This strategic alliance combines Reliance’s vast network and ecosystem with Google’s advanced AI technology, targeting to strengthen India’s digital foundation for an AI-driven future.
As part of this collaboration, eligible Jio users will receive free access to Google AI Pro for 18 months. This includes access to Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro model via the Gemini app, advanced image and video generation capabilities with models like Nano Banana and Veo 3.1, NotebookLM for study and research, and 2 TB of cloud storage across Google Photos, Gmail, and Drive. This offer, valued around ₹35,100 per user, will begin with youth on unlimited 5G plans and expand to all Jio customers nationwide.
The partnership also extends to enterprises, with Reliance Intelligence working alongside Google Cloud to deploy AI hardware accelerators and introduce Google’s Gemini Enterprise platform to Indian organizations. Both companies plan to develop India-specific AI models capable of understanding multiple local languages and dialects, aiming to bridge language gaps and expand digital inclusivity.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward making AI accessible, affordable, and relevant across India’s diverse population, aligning with the national vision of “AI for All” and supporting the country’s digital transformation journey.
Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited, said, “Reliance Intelligence aims
to make intelligence services accessible to 1.45 billion Indians. Through our collaboration with
strategic and long-term partners like Google, we aim to make India not just AI-enabled but AIempowered – where every citizen and enterprise can harness intelligent tools to create, innovate
and grow.”
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, said, “Reliance is a longstanding partner in
Google’s goal of advancing India’s digital future – together we’ve brought affordable internet
access and smartphones to millions. Now, we are bringing this collaboration into the AI era.
