Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited (GOLIL) has launched ‘Kuch Behad Kar’, a new brand positioning platform for its flagship motorcycle oil, Gulf Pride, featuring long-time brand ambassador MS Dhoni. The campaign shifts the narrative from engine capacity to rider ambition, built around the core thought: “Sapna CC dekh kar nahi aata.”
Core idea and consumer insight
The platform is rooted in consumer research on how young Indians define success and ambition. Gulf Pride notes that many riders push their motorcycles beyond intended use navigating heavy traffic, supporting small businesses, carrying loads in rural areas or undertaking long-distance journeys on lower-cc bikes. The brand’s proposition is that ambition is not determined by the size of the machine or available resources, but by the determination of the rider.
Gulf Pride, formulated with Oxybitor technology, is positioned as an engine oil that supports pick-up and engine performance, giving riders an added advantage as they pursue their goals.
Campaign roll-out and extensions
‘Kuch Behad Kar’ will be executed as a 360-degree campaign across television, digital, social media, retail and on-ground activations throughout India. Rather than a one-off ad push, the platform is designed to evolve into an ongoing cultural conversation around ambition.
Key extensions include:
- MTV Hustle Season 5 partnership: Gulf Pride is associating with the music reality show to reinforce the idea that talent needs a stage, not pedigree, to be discovered.
- #BehadStories: A long-term digital storytelling initiative and nationwide search for real riders, dreamers and doers whose journeys embody limitless ambition. Their stories, with motorcycles in a supporting role, will form the heart of the campaign.
MS Dhoni’s role in the narrative
MS Dhoni’s journey from a small town to global sporting success is central to the campaign narrative. His story is positioned as reflecting the resilience, determination and performance mindset that Gulf Pride wants to associate with the new platform. As a brand ambassador since 2011, Dhoni’s association lends credibility to the message that performance and ambition matter more than starting point or machine size.
Ravi Chawla, Managing Director & CEO of Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited, said the platform sharpens the brand’s belief that every rider deserves engine oil built for their ambition, not just their engine capacity.
Conceptualised and directed by agency Curativity, ‘Kuch Behad Kar’ marks a new chapter for Gulf Pride as it seeks to strengthen its positioning around performance and ambition among India’s motorcycle riders.
Ravi Chawla, Managing Director & CEO, Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited, said, “Gulf Pride has always stood for performance. What’s changed is what performance means to today’s rider. It’s no longer about engine size, but about the determination to go further, whatever machine you’re riding. ‘Kuch Behad Kar’ sharpens that belief into a platform, and reflects our conviction, as a challenger brand, that every rider deserves an engine oil built for their ambition, not just their engine capacity. This is central to how we see Gulf Pride’s next phase of growth in India.”
Aarthy Sridhar, Chief Marketing Officer, Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited, said, “Cultural positioning has never mattered more than it does today showing up in the real conversations that reflect people’s lives and realities, not just telling them what a product does. For young India, that means ambition outpacing resources, captured in “Sapna CC dekh kar nahi aata.” Gulf Pride aims at democratising performance by bringing a conversation once reserved for high-CC, premium motorcycles to the everyday commuter. With “Kuch Behad Kar,” we want Gulf Pride to stand for performance without limits.”
