Friday, September 4, 2026: Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has appointed Priyanka Tewari as Head of Marketing. She joined the company in August 2026, and her appointment was reported by multiple industry outlets on September 4, 2026. This role is based in Mumbai and marks the latest step in a career built almost entirely inside pharmaceutical brand management over the past 18 years.
Tewari moves to Glenmark after spending three years and eight months at Alkem Laboratories. Her time there worked almost like a compressed masterclass in career growth. She joined Alkem in December 2022 as Assistant Marketing Manager. She was promoted to Marketing Manager in April 2024, and then rose further to Senior Marketing Manager in April 2026. During this entire stretch, she handled Clavam, which is one of the top brands in the Indian Pharmaceutical Market. Three promotions within four years shows that Alkem trusted her with real responsibility, not just a training role.
Before her time at Alkem, Tewari worked at Zydus Group for one year and seven months as Group Product Manager, where she handled the Ampilox brand. She had a similar stint at Hetero Healthcare, where she also served as Group Product Manager and managed the Opox brand. These roles added more depth to her experience across different therapeutic segments in the Indian pharma industry.
The longer and more formative part of her career was spent at Ipca Laboratories. She worked there for four years and three months as Senior Product Manager, managing brands like Vinicor and Rxplus. Even earlier, she worked as Brand Manager at Panacea Biotec for a year and eight months, where she handled the brand Thank OD. This period helped her build a strong foundation in brand management within the pharmaceutical sector.
Tewari’s career actually goes back even further, to international marketing roles at Unichem Laboratories and Plethico Pharmaceuticals between 2008 and 2013. Her very first job was as a Product Executive at Ajanta Pharma, which she took up in early 2008. This means her professional journey spans exactly eighteen years, moving from an entry-level product executive role to now heading marketing at a major pharmaceutical company.
What stands out about her career path is that it did not involve any detour outside the pharmaceutical sector. She built her experience brand by brand, promotion by promotion, working across eight different pharma companies over nearly two decades. This kind of steady, focused growth is still common in Indian pharma marketing careers, where deep product knowledge and long-term brand handling experience matter a great deal.
Speaking about her move, Tewari described herself simply as a creative marketer with over a decade of experience in brand management. She said she is excited about new challenges and looks forward to making a meaningful impact in her new role. Given her long track record of steady promotions and brand ownership, Glenmark appears to have brought in someone who understands exactly how pharmaceutical brands are built and sustained over time.
On the education front, Tewari holds a B.Tech in Biotechnology from DY Patil University, completed between 2003 and 2007. She is also currently pursuing an MBA in Marketing from NMIMS CDOE, which she began in 2022. This mix of a science background along with ongoing management education reflects the kind of technical and strategic thinking often needed for pharmaceutical brand leadership roles.
