Cipla has promoted Runa Akhtar to Marketing Head – Urology, marking a significant leadership change within its specialty therapy business as the company looks to strengthen its focus on urology care.
In her new role, Akhtar will be responsible for shaping brand strategy, portfolio planning and go-to-market approaches for Cipla’s urology franchise, which includes therapies for conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, overactive bladder and other urological disorders. She will work closely with sales, medical affairs and market access teams to drive awareness, adoption and differentiation of Cipla’s urology offerings among healthcare professionals and patients.
Akhtar’s appointment comes after a rapid progression at Cipla, where she moved from Group Brand Manager to broader marketing leadership responsibilities within the urology business over the last two years. Before joining Cipla, she spent five years at Ipca Laboratories, most recently as Senior Group Product Manager, where she handled key brands and gained experience in specialty and chronic therapy segments. Earlier in her career, she held product and brand management roles at Koye Pharmaceuticals, Centaur Pharmaceuticals and Intas Pharmaceuticals, building a strong foundation in pharma marketing across multiple therapy areas.
The move underscores Cipla’s intent to invest in focused marketing leadership for its specialty portfolios, as the company continues to expand its presence in high-value therapeutic segments and differentiate its brands through evidence-based messaging and stronger customer engagement.
