Snapchat has rolled out significant updates to its Family Center suite, providing parents with unprecedented visibility into teen app usage while preserving private conversation privacy. The enhancements address growing parental concerns around screen time, social connections, and digital well-being amid rising social media scrutiny.
Key additions include weekly screen time analytics breaking down usage across chatting, camera, Snap Map, Spotlight, and Stories—enabling parents to identify patterns and spark informed conversations. Enhanced friend connection insights now reveal how teens know new contacts through mutual friends, saved contacts, or shared communities like schools, building trust signals without message access.
New safety resources feature setup video guides and streamlined controls for content restrictions, My AI chatbot disablement, family location sharing, and account reporting. Uthara Ganesh, Snap’s APAC Public Policy head, emphasized: “Family Center supports digital well-being through transparent, easy-to-use tools fostering parent-teen trust.”
India rollout coincides with expanding teen smartphone penetration and parental safety demands.
