Somany Ceramics Ltd. has teamed up with Techno India University, Kolkata, on an innovative project called “Transforming Broken Tiles into Trendsetting Style.” This collaboration repurposes waste tiles into stunning art pieces and murals, promoting sustainability and reducing construction waste.
Twenty talented architecture students from the university showcased their skills by turning discarded tiles into breathtaking installations. The initiative highlights creative reuse, aligning with Somany’s eco-friendly practices, including tile adhesives made from recycled materials. Anshuman Chakravarty, VP & Head of Marketing at Somany, praised the students’ dedication, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to environmental innovation.
Prof. Rosi Sarkar, HOD at Techno India University, noted the real-world application of design skills in eco-friendly projects. This partnership fosters awareness about recycling among youth, blending art, education, and corporate responsibility. It exemplifies how industry-academia collaborations drive positive environmental change.
