MTR Foods, one of India’s most trusted food brands, unveiled ‘India’s Sweetest Language’, its festive campaign celebrating the uniquely Indian tradition of expressing emotions through sweets. Inspired by the insight that some feelings are often conveyed more meaningfully through sweets than words, the campaign explores how sweets have come to represent affection, celebration, gratitude and care across Indian households. Through the book of India’s Sweetest Language and a digital film, MTR celebrates a cultural truth: while India is home to countless languages and dialects, there is one universal language understood across the country, the language of sweets.
At the heart of the campaign is ‘India’s Sweetest Language’, an illustrated book that uncovers a vocabulary most Indians already speak, often without realising it. Drawing from words and phrases heard across homes, festivals and family gatherings in India, the book brings together expressions from different languages that are closely associated with moments of sharing sweets. Through playful limericks and relatable festive moments, MTR decodes the phrase to show how a simple “Ek aur lo”, “Olleyadagali” or “Aavta rehjo” say far more when accompanied by an MTR sweet than through words alone. The result is a uniquely Indian dictionary of sweets, celebrating the shared expressions, traditions and rituals through which sweets have become an inseparable part of festive celebrations across generations.
Extending the narrative, MTR Foods launched a digital film that brings the book’s central thought to life. Set against the backdrop of a festive community celebration, the film follows a young girl who discovers the India’s Sweetest Language book and begins seeing its pages come alive around her. As she turns each page, familiar expressions unfold through every day festive interactions, from an affectionate gesture of care and a heartfelt blessing to the joy of a long-awaited reunion. Featuring MTR sweets, the film brings together a series of familiar festive moments that reflect the warmth, generosity and togetherness at the heart of every Indian celebration, reaffirming MTR’s place as a trusted companion to different occasions across generations.
The campaign comes at a time when MTR is further strengthening its sweets portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to a category that remains deeply woven into India’s festive and cultural fabric. Building on its strong heritage in festive favourites such as Mysore Pak, Gulab Jamun and Coconut Burfi, MTR is expanding its portfolio with a range of premium and contemporary offerings designed for evolving consumer preferences and consumption occasions. These include ingredient-led innovations featuring ghee, jaggery and dates, as well as new formats that seek to make traditional sweets relevant across a wider range of moments, from festive gifting and celebrations to everyday indulgence.

Speaking about the campaign, Mr. Anupam Nair, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer, MTR Foods, said, “India is incredibly diverse, and that diversity is reflected in how we express emotion. Yet, during the festive season, sweets become a universal language of affection. When someone you love wants to say, ‘I care for you,’ they often won’t say it in words, they’ll simply hand you a sweet. That’s the idea behind lines like ‘Kitna Dubla Ho Gaya’, less about how you look and more about saying ‘I love you’ without saying it. At the same time, while consumers hold on to the tradition and ethos of traditional sweets, they’re also seeking more varied experiences. That’s what shaped this campaign, as we expand our portfolio with new, exciting offerings like building out our world of Gulab Jamun and reimagining a classic like Mysore Pak in a more portion-controlled format for today’s consumer. Through this campaign, we wanted to celebrate a tradition that has always existed while showing that sweets truly are a language of their own.”
Soumabha Nandi, Executive Vice President, Creative & Strategy, Social Panga, the creative agency behind the campaign, added, “Good narratives live around us. That’s where the insight behind MTR’s India’s Sweetest Language was found, hiding in ordinary moments. Think about it, why do we carry sweets when we visit someone? Why does good news almost automatically call for a box of mithai? The behaviour already existed; we simply recognised it as a language in itself. Our task was not to invent a new story, but to uncover one that Indians have been speaking for generations. Strategically, we also didn’t want to limit the idea to a commercial film. That’s where we, at Social Panga, collaborated with MTR to create a book, something that would document this vocabulary and give the idea a life beyond the campaign.”
Beyond the book, the campaign will unfold through creator collaborations, digital storytelling and on-ground activations designed to spark conversations around the enduring role sweets play during festive across Indian households.
