Bombay Shaving Company has launched a new campaign for its Switch4 razor cartridge. The campaign focuses on the idea of choice. It challenges a common habit in the shaving category. Many people keep using the same razor handle for years. But they often look for different options when it comes to replacement blades. Switch4 tries to solve this with a simple idea.
The brand has introduced a four-blade cartridge that fits popular three-blade handles. This means consumers can try a better cartridge without changing the handle they already own. The Switch4 cartridge comes with an extra back blade and dual lubrication strips. It is also priced about 33% below comparable blades in the market. The campaign uses humour to make this point in a light and relatable way.
The campaign film features veteran actor Gajraj Rao. He plays a character who questions why switching blades should mean switching everything. The story pokes fun at the usual category convention. It encourages viewers to think about making choices on their own terms. This fits with Bombay Shaving Company’s broader brand idea of ‘Khul Ke Khel’. The message is about breaking old routines and trying something new.
In an interesting twist, the campaign also has a real-life extension. Bombay Shaving Company co-founder Shantanu Deshpande shaved off his beard for the launch. He was known for his beard over the years. This personal act of “switching” adds a strong visual element to the campaign. It shows that even the founder is willing to make a visible change.
Shantanu Deshpande, Co-Founder at Bombay Shaving Company, shaved off his beard, a look he had been known for for years, adding a personal dimension to the brand’s challenge to familiar shaving conventions.
Speaking about the campaign, Aruj Garg, Head – Razors & Shaving and Category at Bombay Shaving Company, said, “Switch4 is an example of how we approach innovation at Bombay Shaving Company, by looking at everyday products and asking where we can genuinely improve the experience. We have introduced a four-blade cartridge to work with popular three-blade handles, while incorporating features such as an additional back blade and dual lubrication. The idea was to create a meaningful upgrade without asking consumers to change the handle they already use. Really, it’s about giving them a choice,” concluded Garg.
