Godrej Industries has approved the appointment of Pirojsha Godrej as Whole-Time Director designated Executive Chairperson, effective August 14, 2026, marking the formal handover of leadership to the next generation of the Godrej family. The board’s decision, taken at its meeting on August 13, confirms a succession plan that was first outlined in April 2026, when Pirojsha was named Chairperson-Designate of both Godrej Industries and the Godrej Industries Group.
Pirojsha Godrej will succeed Nadir Godrej, who is retiring as Chairman and Managing Director upon turning 75, and will also take over as Chairperson of the Godrej Industries Group from August 14. His appointment is for a five-year term running until August 13, 2031, subject to shareholder approval through a postal ballot process initiated on August 13. As part of the transition, Nadir Godrej will assume the role of Chairman Emeritus, providing continuity and guidance to the group.
A third-generation member of the Godrej family, Pirojsha currently serves as Chairperson of Godrej Properties, Godrej Capital and Godrej Ventures. Before taking on broader group responsibilities, he led Godrej Properties through a phase of rapid expansion, helping it become India’s largest residential real estate developer by sales, and played a key role in setting up the group’s financial services and venture investment arms.
Under Pirojsha’s leadership over the past five years, the Godrej Industries Group has recorded more than 20% compounded annual growth in both sales and net profits, reflecting the performance of its diversified portfolio across chemicals, real estate, financial services and investments. The company said the transition is part of a planned generational shift aimed at ensuring long-term stability and growth as the group navigates evolving market dynamics and expansion opportunities.
