
Pine Labs appoints Jitender Kumar as State Head. With 15+ years of experience at Kotak, HDFC, and Citi, he returns to Pine Labs to lead merchant expansion and regional sales.
Jitender Kumar started working at Pine Labs as the State Head in July 2025. He has more than 15 years of experience working at top banks like Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, Citi Bank, and Global Payments. This is his second time working at Pine Labs; he was the Area Sales Manager from 2012 to 2016. His return to the company as a senior leader shows that he knows a lot about the fintech ecosystem and that Pine Labs wants to improve its operations in the region. As State Head, Jitender Kumar will be in charge of Pine Labs’ growth in important Indian markets, especially in Delhi and North India. He will be in charge of getting a lot of new merchants on board, building and training regional sales teams, and getting people to use Pine Labs’ all-in-one digital payment and commerce solutions. Kumar will also be in charge of putting into action growth strategies that are specific to the local market while still being in line with the company’s national goals in the fintech and retail payments sectors. This is because he has a lot of experience in banking and merchant services.
Before coming back to Pine Labs, Jitender worked for Kotak Mahindra Bank for more than seven years. He was the Area Sales Manager from 2018 to 2023 and the Assistant Vice President (AVP) from May 2023 to July 2025. While he was at Kotak, he helped the company grow sales in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. He also led business teams that worked in retail finance, merchant services, and digital sales. Before that, he was the Manager at HDFC Bank from 2016 to 2018, where he was in charge of getting new customers and growing the bank’s portfolio in the New Delhi area. From 2009 to 2011, he worked at Citi Bank as a Relationship Manager – Alliance, where he was in charge of managing strategic marketing partnerships and co-branded media campaigns. This gave him the skills he needed to help businesses grow through partnerships.
Pine Labs is expanding its fintech presence through new ideas in UPI, credit-based payments, and embedded finance, and Jitender Kumar’s appointment comes at a good time. His previous knowledge of Pine Labs’ merchant ecosystem and his improved experience in sales leadership make him the best person to lead regional growth quickly. Jitender’s return is expected to add strategic value to Pine Labs’ efforts to strengthen its relationships with merchants and grow its operations across India at the state level. This is because he is good at sales, building teams, and getting customers involved.
