In a significant strategic move to bolster its marketing leadership, IndusInd Bank has announced the appointment of advertising veteran Shakti Tokas as Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Brand and Communications Marketing. This appointment marks a major milestone in Tokas’s career as he transitions from a decade-long journey in the advertising agency ecosystem to his first in-house brand leadership role.
Tokas wrote, “Almost a decade ago I walked into the advertising agency ecosystem as a trainee who didn’t know what he didn’t know. Today, I’m joining IndusInd Bank’s Marketing Communications team as AVP – Marketing. Moving in-house, owning a brand from the inside for the first time, at a bank in the middle of rewriting its own story. Terrifying in the best way. The agencies gave me the clients, the late nights, the pitches won and lost, and the people who turned all of it into something I’ll carry.”
At IndusInd Bank, Tokas will be an integral part of the marketing communications team. His primary focus will revolve around driving innovative brand-building initiatives and shaping integrated communication strategies. Sharing the announcement on LinkedIn, Tokas expressed his enthusiasm about owning a brand from the inside, noting that he is joining the financial institution at a pivotal moment when it is in the middle of “rewriting its own story.” This strategic addition aligns with the bank’s ongoing efforts to revitalize its brand identity and deepen customer engagement in an increasingly competitive financial services sector.
Tokas brings over ten years of robust experience spanning digital marketing, brand strategy, client management, and brand communications. Prior to joining IndusInd Bank, he served as a Brand Partner at Propagate India, a division of Publicis Group, for over two years. During his tenure there, he played a vital role in scaling operations and spearheading digital transformation journeys for several prominent global and national brands. His impressive career trajectory also includes a five-year tenure at FoxyMoron, where he climbed the ranks to Associate Director of Client Solutions, alongside foundational stints at agencies like DDB Mudra Group.
With a proven track record of creating compelling narrative arcs and driving digital growth, Tokas’s appointment gives a fresh edge to IndusInd Bank’s outreach. By bringing in seasoned talent from the creative agency world, the bank is reinforcing its commitment to impactful storytelling in an era defined by rapidly evolving consumer preferences.
