Avanade India has appointed Achal Kataria as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. The appointment comes as the Microsoft specialist looks to accelerate growth in India and help organisations convert their investments in artificial intelligence and cloud technologies into measurable business outcomes.
Kataria brings more than three decades of experience across technology services, enterprise transformation, global operations and commercial leadership. Before joining Avanade, he led Cognizant’s India business, where he was responsible for growth, strategic client relationships and market expansion.
Earlier in his career, Kataria held senior leadership positions at EXL, Tech Mahindra, Genpact and Hughes Software Systems. His professional experience covers a wide range of industries, including banking, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications and life sciences.
At Avanade, Kataria will oversee the company’s business strategy and operations in India. His mandate includes expanding the company’s market presence, strengthening relationships with clients and partners, and supporting businesses as they move from experimental AI projects towards broader, enterprise-level transformation.
The appointment follows Avanade’s plans to expand its India operations and strengthen the country’s role as an important delivery and growth hub. As enterprises increasingly seek practical applications for AI, cloud modernisation and digital business solutions, Kataria’s experience is expected to support Avanade’s efforts to build long-term value in the Indian market.
