Billboard India has appointed Preeti S. Nayyar as its Chief Operating Officer, strengthening the leadership team behind the global music brand’s India expansion. The move comes as Billboard India builds out its presence in one of the world’s most dynamic music markets and looks to deepen its connection with artists, fans, brands and industry stakeholders.
Nayyar brings more than 25 years of experience across media, entertainment and music, with a career that spans Universal Music Group, Disney, Fox Star Studios, Radio Mirchi and India Today Group. Most recently, she spent nearly nine years at Universal Music Group, where she led UMG For Brands across India and Asia and helped scale brand partnerships and culture-led marketing solutions.
In her new role, Nayyar will oversee Billboard India’s business operations, revenue strategy, partnerships and P&L management. Her mandate also includes strengthening industry relationships and helping the platform create deeper value across content, charts, live experiences and awards. That makes her role central to how Billboard India monetises and expands its footprint in the country.
Billboard India launched in India with a leadership team designed to blend editorial, creative and commercial capabilities. Alongside Nayyar, the operation includes Mohini Chaudhuri as content strategy director, supported by other specialists working across creative and charts. The structure suggests a business model focused on both cultural credibility and commercial growth.
For Billboard India, the appointment is a significant one because the brand is not only building media products but also shaping a broader ecosystem around Indian music. Nayyar’s background in brand partnerships and entertainment strategy positions her well to help translate that ambition into sustainable business momentum.
