Deloitte South Asia has elevated Rohit Varier to the role of Executive Director, marking a major milestone in his long communications career. The promotion reflects the firm’s recognition of his work leading corporate and marketing communications across the region.
Varier has been with Deloitte for eight years and brings more than 20 years of experience in public relations, public affairs and journalism. Before joining Deloitte, he spent over a decade working with PR agencies and advising clients across sectors including technology, automobiles, FMCG, aviation, financial services, infrastructure and energy. That broad background has helped him build the kind of strategic perspective needed in a complex professional-services environment.
In his expanded role, Varier is expected to focus on aligning business priorities, marketing initiatives and communications strategy into a single, growth-oriented narrative. For a firm like Deloitte, that kind of role is especially important because reputation, trust and stakeholder communication are closely tied to business performance.
The appointment also carries weight within the organization, as an Executive Director position at Deloitte South Asia is effectively a Partner-level leadership role. That makes the move not just a promotion, but a signal that Varier will now be part of the firm’s broader leadership and decision-making structure.
Romal Shetty, CEO of Deloitte South Asia, congratulated Varier on the elevation and welcomed him to the leadership team. The recognition underscores the value Deloitte places on communications leaders who can shape narratives, manage reputation and support business growth in highly visible markets.
Varier’s journey reflects how communications has evolved from a support function into a strategic business discipline. His new role suggests Deloitte wants that perspective even more deeply embedded in its South Asia leadership.
