Nike’s new “Why Do It?” campaign redefines the iconic “Just Do It” slogan, inspiring athletes to embrace courage and purpose over perfection.
Nike has breathed new life into its famous slogan “Just Do It” by introducing its new tagline known as “Why Do It?” With the goal of inspiring today’s generation of young sportsmen, this campaign instead positions greatness as something that can be chosen, rather than earned, encouraging the individual to take the first step with courage and belief in one’s capability.
The “Why Do It?” The campaign includes a worldwide ragtag squad of superstar athletes including tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz, football star Saquon Barkley, basketball legend LeBron James and skateboarding superstar Rayssa Leal among others. Narrated by Tyler, The Creator himself, the campaign celebrates the raw moments in sport and the bravery it takes to put your all out there and risk failure in order to keep trying, despite the odds being against you.
In the new Nike film, athletes are reminded that they don’t reach greatness overnight, but only through each stumble, how you recover from it, and whether you choose to keep fighting. This style speaks directly to that generation that is under pressures of perfectionism and fear of failure and encourages them to embark on their journey regardless of outcome.
Based on the inspiring campaigns of nearly 40 years, Why Do It! The Coca-Cola Company applauds Nike’s bold renewal of its founding principle that making something possible requires showing up and trying, and sets an example for the future of sport and individual empowerment.
