Aparna Mehrotra Joins Universal Sompo General Insurance Co. Ltd. as AVP

Aparna Mehrotra has joined Universal Sompo General Insurance Co. Ltd. as Assistant Vice President and Strategic Lead – Communications, Public Relations and Social Media. The appointment brings an experienced corporate communications professional into a key leadership role at the general insurance company.
Mehrotra moves to Universal Sompo after working with SBI General Insurance, where she held the position of Chief Manager – Corporate Communications. She joined SBI General Insurance in 2022 and handled communications responsibilities across internal and external stakeholder groups.
Her professional experience also includes senior roles in marketing communications and public relations. Before entering the insurance sector, she worked with Havas Group India, Adfactors PR and the MullenLowe Lintas Group. This background covers corporate reputation, media relations, brand communication and agency management.
In her new role, she is expected to lead Universal Sompo’s corporate communications, public relations and social media strategy. Her responsibilities may include strengthening the company’s public profile, managing media engagement, developing digital content and supporting communication during important business or customer moments.
Universal Sompo is a Mumbai-headquartered general insurer and a joint venture involving Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Karnataka Bank, Dabur Investments and global insurer SOMPO. The company has 142 offices across India and offers products across motor, health, accident, home, crop, marine, engineering and commercial insurance.
Mehrotra’s appointment comes as insurers continue to focus on trust, digital engagement and clear customer communication in a competitive market.
