
Mahindra Manulife Life Insurance has appointed Ruchika Malhan Varma as its new Chief Marketing and Customer Officer. The company is a 50:50 joint venture between the Mahindra Group and global financial giant Manulife. In this executive role, Varma will lead the company’s marketing strategy as it builds an AI-driven, customer-focused life insurance business in India.
Her broad mandate encompasses brand and marketing communications, corporate reputation, digital growth marketing, and customer experience. She will also oversee digital innovation, strategic partnerships, sustainability, and artificial intelligence enablement. Varma aims to combine advanced technology with deep consumer insights to make life insurance products more intuitive and accessible.
Varma brings over twenty-five years of leadership experience across financial services, media, consumer goods, and travel sectors across India and Asia. Prior to this appointment, she served for nearly seven years at Generali Central Insurance as Chief Marketing, Customer, and Impact Officer. During her time there, she headed product innovation, web sales, customer experience, and sustainability.
Earlier in her career, Varma served as Chief Marketing Officer at IDFC FIRST Bank, playing a key role in launching and establishing the banking brand. She has also held senior leadership roles at notable organizations including BBC Worldwide, Lonely Planet, Singapore Tourism Board, VIP Luggage, and Electrolux.
